Adventure, romance and lives well lived – Galliano SS17
This post is also available in: Bulgarian French
Can you remember the admiration in the eyes of the young girl finding out the delight of dressing up?
The spring collection of John Galliano brings this sincere and genuine joy of dressing. It is like discovering suitcase with clothes accumulated over generations: garments that carry the traces of adventure, romance and lives well lived.
Bill Gaytten conceived a lineup mixing aristocratic and naïve looks – removed from the ordinary but relevant.
Delicate sheer silk chiffon, lace and tulle dresses channeling the 30s are accentuated with bias ruffle tiers and draped décolleté that remain the Maison John Galliano signature. Visible undergarments – knickers and bras – project innocence rather than seduction. Papier mâché masks by Stephen Jones pose atop the head: rabbit, owl, lion, dog and zebra and finally – stiletto sandals.
A collection that reawakens the imagination, putting altogether savoir faire and the joy of dressing. Adding also the joy of the early school years, further highlighted by the location of the show – Le Lycée Carnot.
How can I describe this strong emotion, experience that lasts a few minutes but remains in the heart, one more story of the good living.
