Luxury and sales
This post is also available in: Bulgarian
Last years some of the biggest houses stopped offering their luxury goods on sale. In addition to brands that traditionally do not do sales (like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, etc.) a few seasons ago Gucci and Dior also stopped offering preferential prices.
Still, important part of the luxury segment brands participates in official annual sales and makes some of its items more accessible. Today, I put together some ideas and tips for you about buying luxury during sales.
What makes luxury so attractive?
The notion of luxury is different for each of us. In the end, however, it is about a unique and memorable life experience, emotion, dream come true, memory, adventure, getting out of ordinary daily life.
(For instance, I will never forget how I bought my first Dior shoes many years ago.)
And, speaking about, seasonal sales are a great opportunity to plan and buy a luxury item. Here are my practical tips on the topic:
Shopping in store
In most cases, big seasonal sales are centralized and regulated and occur within 4-6 weeks in winter and in summer. With luck and good strategy, one can buy fantastic things that have real value. One thing to keep in mind – the Fashion weeks’ calendar: if you’re in Milan, Paris or Berlin during the Fashion Week, your chances for luxury sale finds are diminishing dramatically. This is because brands take care of their image and do not want to go on sale during such key periods.
Online shopping
Here, like in business, applies the FIFO principle – first in, first out and the quickest wins. In rare cases, you may take the risk and wait until the next markdown. Very likely the item (or your size) will be gone for good. Last years I’ve been a fan of luxury online shopping:
• most of the brands that interest me are not necessarily present on our market
• reductions are real
• authenticity is guaranteed
• procedure for delivery, tracking and, if necessary, returning the product is transparent and well organized
Sites I buy from are: Luisaviaroma – their big advantage is the free shipping for Bulgaria, Net-a-porter and My Theresa. The two have shipping costs, approx. 15-20 EUR, but I think it’s worth.
My approach when shopping luxury during sales (and in principle) is:
invest in accessories – bags, shoes, jewelry, etc.
choose models, brands and colors that are sustainable in time, ageless and seasonless, easy to mix and match to my style and wardrobe.
For example, colors such as pink, powder, beige, black, red, blue are always on the agenda and can blend or vice versa – stand out in a particular styling. The other detail is – brands like Prada, Miu Miu, Valentino, Roger Vivier, Fendi, Tod’s, and so on are always attractive.
Here’s what I’ve outlined in the sellout final. Luisaviaroma currently has the promo code BX18, which gives additional 18% off.
