Over-the-knees and some styling tips

“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” – Coco Chanel
You never know indeed.
That’s why I always try to fix up a little – just in case, even if I am out just for some grocery shopping. (I have to admit, wearing nice boots helps a bit too). Today’s post is about the chicest shoes of the season: the over-the-knee boots. Some say they are challenging to wear, but ok, I think it’s worth a try because with the right pieces these shoes work great for everybody, no matter of the body type. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
It is a matter of personal choice, but I have a slight preference for models with flat sole or a small heel. This way, you can wear them everywhere – even at work, they are just perfect for day and night.
Practically, they look good with jeans, dresses, skirts, and are the perfect solution to remain stylish and elegant during the cold season while kept warm.
Here are some tips:
- Go for black: pick the black boots (as I did) for matching with all of your outfits. I think suede models are great fit as they accentuate better the silhouette, like this Högl model I am wearing.
- Look effortless: style them with an oversize sweater (or sweater dress) and leave some room between the boots and the hemline, wow effect is guaranteed. For warmer days (of special fashion occasions) they can be worn even on bare feet.
- Convey casual or glamorous: think of the length of the boots – if you go for shorter lengths you get more casual look and vice-versa: if boots style is taller styling gets immediately more glamorous.
- Wear them at work: stick to the rule of covering the upper thighs and leave no room between boots and skirt. Match them with more classic top and the boots will do the rest – they cannot remain unnoticed anyway.
Last but not least:
And don’t forget: colder days are great opportunity to show your style and inspiration.
Do you wear over-the-knees?
